Success Stories
In 2008 there were 5,967 living kidney transplants. Donors were mothers, fathers, siblings, relatives, close friends, distant friends, new acquaintances, altruistic donors, strangers, donors who were incompatible to one person, but compatible with another incompatible pair. (Paired kidney exchanges,) Many of these people were not thinking about being a living kidney donor, that is until they heard of that persons need..
Each story is unique and more miraculous than the other. Every day there’s another story of someone donating. Here are just a selected few, each one is more inspiring than the one you just read. We at the Living Kidney Donors Network believe that there is a living donor for every person that needs a kidney transplant. The person in need has just not yet met him or her.

Taxi Driver Donates
The day taxi driver Carol Hambright picked up Keri Evans for her first dialysis appointment, neither woman imagined they'd be part of two life-saving kidney operations.
Two years and 156 dialysis trips later, Evans, 52, of Midland Texas, still can hardly believe that Hambright volunteered to donate her kidney.
